It encompasses a rectangular plan and a wide area extending from south to north. In addition to the gates that open to the inner
fortress, there are the Lower Dock and the Dungeon Gate to the west. In the east direction, there is the Tabakhane Gate in the middle
section and the Cuma Gate in the south east corner. Important monumental buildings which remain up to today are in Orta Hisar
include Fatih Mosque (Chrysokephalos Church), Musa Pasha Mosque, Old Government House, Old Prison and many examples of
civil architecture. This area is a part of the city's 1st Area Site. Zağnos and Tabakhane Bridges, which provide connection in the
east-west direction of the city, are also connected to this area.
